Just trying to throw some stuff out there- until someone who actually knows something contributes. TBABill Clevo 665 Modem 1st, It's never worked with the other distros of Linux I listed.

Clevo 665 Modem, it's a wireless keyboard with volume control that works well with headphones. Sound is perfectly clear and volume can be muted, increased and decreased normally. But when the headphones are not plugged in the internal speakers do not operate at all.

Until someone with real knowledge responds, these are the straws I would be grabbing at: Play with the choices in the "Hardware" tab of the Sound Preferences dialog and recheck the available choices in Clevo 665 Modem "Output" tab. Please don't be frustrated with my obvious nu-b status.
