Initial version of the GPU has some bugs with secondary MATROX Mystique G200 and also shipped with a low clock speed because of manufacturing difficulties. A later version increased clock speeds but also eliminated AGP 2x 3.
It features a unique anti-aliasing technique called fragment anti-aliasing that provides very high quality claimed 16X-equivalent MSAA. This technique has some caveats though, such as incompatibility with stencil buffering, MATROX Mystique G200 so was not further developed. The first Matrox chip with full DVD acceleration. It does not support Windows 9x.

B This chip is designed to make Parhelia solutions more affordable. It fairs well in period 3D-applications and games, although it will be slower than GeForce4 MATROX Mystique G200 most of the time.

Matrox is a privately held company headquartered in Montreal, Canada. G was Matrox's first fully AGP -compliant graphics processor. G was one of the first cards to support this feature[ MATROX Mystique G200 needed ].
The chip is a bit core containing dual bit buses in what Matrox calls a "DualBus" organization. Each bus is unidirectional and is designed to speed data transfer to and from the functional units within the chip. By doubling the internal data path with two separate buses instead MATROX Mystique G200 just a wider single bus, Matrox reduced latencies in data transfer by improving overall bus efficiency. G supported full bit color depth rendering which substantially pushed the image quality upwards by eliminating dithering artifacts caused by the then-more-typical bit color depth. First decision is if to leave default 2: With both of my boards I did not find memory clock to be very limiting. But strange things happened with SG, after base clock the benchmark results were not improving anymore, like if the board denied MATROX Mystique G200 be clocked higher.
With my Mystique used for testing I could set the tightest timings even at top clocks: Playing with refresh timer did not make any difference to me. Conclusion Mystique has its strong and weak sides.
