I have only used it for a couple of weeks, and not yet for photos, but solid colour graphics and text print very well. Also, in sleep mode it uses less than two watts, so is reasonable to leave on all the time and 'wake itself up' when you send a print job. I use this printer over Wi-Fi, from a Windows 10 laptop and an android phone. Works reliably from both. I bought this as first colour laser printer, having got frustrated with my inkjet gobbling up ink and constantly having technical problems. I am pleased with the quality of the printing, including colour photos printed on normal paper, which came out better than the inkjet, despite lower resolution, in theory.

I couldn't get it to be recognised by my apple products directly,depsite it advertising apple 'airprint' but have succeeded by using the IP address, but this took a while. It connected to PCs very easily. Main comment is I under-estimated how big it was- I have had mono laser printers before and have looked at several colour printers in shops but was taken aback at how BIG this one is- like an office photo-copier, not a home device- so make sure you look at the measurements and check your space before you order. We have not managed to configure scan to network to work on Brother DCP-1400 PrinterScanner of these printers. We have used the identical parameters to configure different model Brother MFPs to successfully scan to network.


No help with any of these issues from Brother as "Out of warranty". The Chief annotated the instructions, and his annotations appear in red text.
